The State of Georgia has a statewide burn ban from May 1st until September 30th each year; except for cooking fires, such as grills, for food. From October 1st until April 30th homeowners may burn yard items, such as leaves, limbs, etc. that fall on your property; you may not burn any other forms of trash, this is prohibited by State law and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Regulations. Someone must stay with the fire at all times, have a water hose present and the fire must be out by dark. You should call the Fire Department each day that you wish to burn at (770) 964-9934 ext. 381 or 380 to make sure that the weather allows for burning that day. You may come by the Fire Department for a complete copy of the 'Burning Policy'. |
